...

So I go into the bathroom this morning, step up to the urinal and proceed to take care of some buisness. Aforementioned buisness concluded I make my way to the sink for some hand washing, being the hygenic fellow that I am.

I hear a flush. I hear a stall door open. Out pops a person who works on the same floor as I do, a chatty fellow.

"Hey! How's it going", he says.

"Oh, just fine", I reply. Now this is the part where my highly conditioned conversational reflex would trigger something like, "...and how are things going with you?". Just a bit ahead of that reflex though my brain interrupted the programed script and I suddenly realized that considering where he just came from I didn't want to know how things were going with him...at the moment...silence reigned and I left the bathroom.

Urges

I've been feeling the urge, the need, a longing deep in my soul...a phantasmal shadow of a though that's been proding my mind to fulfill it. I need to watch Star Wars again...and I never thought I'd say this...but the ORIGIONAL UNMOLESTED version.

It's like order a fucking coke....classic, caffeine free, diet, cherry, vanilla...how did it happen, it all started out so innocent....clean up the film, then add a few scenes that flesh out the story....sigh

I'm going to break out my old VHS tapes and view them...though...the DVD version will be mine....god I'm weak

More Helpdesk mirth

GDISK (I) Disk Wiped

Random Helpdesk mirth

We have to clear the hard drives of old computers before they are sent into the void. I always use GDISK to perform this task. It comes with Norton Ghost and it's a great little hard drive utility, beats the shit out of FDISK. Anyway, I use the diskwipe switch to clear everything from the disks.

For some reason typing in "gdisk 1 /diskwipe" always makes me chuckle internally.

Hmmm...that seemed funnier before I typed it out.

Exposed

My co-worker/friend Jon lent me Transmetropolitan in trade and I read it over lunch. Very fucking interesting story, great art work...all very gritty and nasty. I liked it....but now I'm seeing my life in comic book panels.

I downloaded some Sex Pistols and am currently listening to them. Never listened before...I've found I have an appetite for punk...so this is pretty cool...I've got a bunch of Ramones downloading as I type this...they did a spot on the Ramones yesterday night on NPR, so now their own my mind...I'm looking forward to it.

Oh, if anyone wants to donate an iPod to me I would be forever grateful. I gave up on getting one for free...I did the required offer thing, but you have to get five friends to do it as well and I just don't want to harass my friends like that.

So...donations?...anyone....is this thing on?

I give you...an entry!

I had a great weekend! I spent both days, for the most part, totally goofing off, drinking wine and playing The Sims 2.

I've been readding the "in trade" edition of Watchmen (I just learned that "in trade" refers to a comic books series that has been condesnsed into one big book). I haven't read too many comics up to now, but his one is awesome.

I'm having a terrible time getting motivated to do work. I want to do anything but work. Maybe its time to take an improvised day off, I haven't done that in awhile. Just some time to be by myself and do things I want to do. Being an only child I think I need that from time-to-time.

In other news, Zuma has finally lost its magic for me. The final level is complete hell and seeing as it took me forever to get past the same set of levels at a lower difficulty I just feel that my time coudl be better wasted elsewhere.

Geeky goodness

I've been reading a lot of online comics lately, and I'm sure "a lot" is relative to some people out there, but I'm slowly and tentatively putting my foot into the great unexplored world of comics. My favorites so far are PVP and Underpower, though CTRL-ALT-DEL is one that I look forward too. PVP has taken up a lot of my time, at the State's expense (EG), as I've been making my way through the archives. Let me tell you, the guy has put out a mostly daily strip since 1998, so that adds up to quite a volume.

We finished the Cowboy Bebop series last week. I'm sad that it's over, which says something about how I liked the series. Some of the episodes were a little shaky, but the characters really grew on me and I got really attached to them. As I'm starting to learn, anime endings are often left up in the air and they aren't usually happy, at least in the way we think of happy endings. I enjoyed it though, and we're going to watch the movie soon, though I already have mixed feelings about it...apprehension, since for me the story is over and I don't know where their going to plop it into the story arc. It's even a little painful, in an odd way. If you've seen the series I figure you'll understand that....I don't want to give anything away.

I read a comic called WE3, about cybernetic animals used as weapons platforms. Of course they escape their prison and get out into the world, but the art work was amazing and I love the way they did the panels, or boxes, or whatever you call them. I just read Understanding Comics…so I feel authorized to comment on that. I'm also reading Watchmen, which is very groovy so far…it kind of reminds me of RR Martin's Wildcard series (of which I've only read a bit of the first book).

Anyhoo…
